Strategy

  • Barring his alternate secondary and special, all of Commando's attacks have screen-wide range. Use this to your advantage by putting as much space between yourself and enemies as possible. Ideally, you should be most aggressive on any part of a stage with long, flat stretches of land (such as the bridge in Ancient Valley).
  • Generally speaking, CommandoV1.pngSuppressive FireCommandoV1.pngSuppressive Fire5s CD
    Special

Fire rapidly, stunning and hitting nearby enemies for 6x60% damage.
    Survivor: Commando
is more effective on single-target enemies while CommandoX1.pngFull Metal JacketCommandoX1.pngFull Metal Jacket3s CD
    Secondary

Shoot through enemies for 230% damage, knocking them back.
    Survivor: Commando
's infinite piercing makes it more effective on large groups.
  • Suppressive Fire can be used to stun enemies and briefly interrupt attacks, though it should be noted the stun doesn't last very long.
  • Be wary of using Suppressive Fire up-close, as you are locked in place during its brief animation. In conjunction with its slight bullet spread, middle-to-long range may be preferred.
  • Enemies that aggressively chase you (such as Black Imps, or flying enemies like Swifts) can present trouble during combat. It may be worthwhile to retreat and attack them separately.

Loadout

  • Commando's alternate secondary and special are tailored toward close-quarters combat. In particular, CommandoX2.pngCombat KnifeCommandoX2.pngCombat Knife5s CD

Trivia

  • Commando is the author of the in-game Monster Logs.
    • This never been officially confirmed by Hopoo Games. However, due to the presence of a pistol and a knife being referenced in said logs, and Commando being the one to kill Providence in the Seekers of the Storm trailer, the wiki assumes Commando as the lone survivor who wrote these logs and escaped Petrichor V. If this is ever officially debunked by Hopoo Games, all references to this will be removed from the wiki.
  • Commando is one of two survivors to have items in their character portrait, the other being the DrifterPortrait0.pngDrifter.
