Acrid
"Acrid deals huge amounts of damage after stacking poisons from his Festering Wounds, Caustic Sludge, and Epidemic. Try to stun targets inside your Caustic Sludge for maximum damage. Remember that you can fight at both melee and range!"
–In-game description
Description
Acrid is a playable character in Risk of Rain Returns.
Acrid is a tetrapodal creature with reptilian features, covered in maroon scales with spikes along its spine, tipped with bright green accents.
Acrid has limbs ending in three digit claws, along with four green eyes, and a mouth bearing a large jaw with sharp teeth. Its right upper limb is restrained with a ball and chain.
Acrid is capable of spreading noxious poison via its skin pores and saliva. It is able to forcefully spit said poison to great lengths.
Unlocking
Acrid is unlocked on one of the third stages variants, Sunken Tomb. Acrid is locked in a metal container on the far right of the stage, that only appears half of the time. Interacting with this container will result in a special boss fight with Acrid, that when won, will award the character, as well as a random item of varying quality.

SUBJECT #c25058
Early genetic experimentation has led to the creation of larger creatures from test tubes in recent months. Entirely coded in-house, with no DNA baseline larger than 5% of any one pre-existing Adam subject, this creature that we have code-named 'ACRID' has shown more intelligence than any other baseless chimaera and almost as much intelligence as [redacted] chimaeras. Preliminary tests on the subject have been occuring for months now. It is genetically stable but displays erratic signs of violence, and is thus being shipped to your unit for further trials due to safety concerns. The crate is rated for biological weapon resistance, but is not recommended for animal use - Still, we believe Acrid should make it to you safely and we have no concerns of damage in transit due to the immense strength and resilience it has shown across multiple trial periods.
P.S. Good Luck.
