Artificer

Description

The Artificer is a playable character in Risk of Rain Returns. When many enemies are on screen, Frost Barrier causes them to group up allowing for incredibly effective use of the high damaging Flamethrower attack. Artificer's Flamethrower can also be used to float slowly through the air to bridge small gaps.

Frost Barrier can also be used to bait high flying enemies into an attackable range and make it easier to get yourself into favorable positions.

Luggage & Equipment: High Court passenger equipped with standard ENV suit. Due to UES relations with the High Court and its donors, both the ENV suit itself and the individual's carry-on have had security checks waived. Passenger willingly attached electrical auto-nullifiers to both of their handheld generators, though lights remained active even after magnetized. Passenger requested to have various analytical devices scanned and recorded through security gates, though the exact nature of these devices was unable to be ascertained by security personnel. (See security recall for personnel notes.)

[SECURITY RECALL] [Note A1a] Device 1 recorded as a foreign generator in the shape of a titration flask. Passed through x-rays safely, though the resulting image was warped. [Note A1b] Device 2 unabled to be lifted by security personnel. High Court passenger assisted in placing in loading bay. Device appeared to be a solid steel cube with no discernible markings. [Note A1c] Individual requested Device 3 not be passed through x-ray terminal. Recorded as 'additional helmet'. [Note A1d] Device 4 recorded as a chest filled with elemental samples.

Trivia

  • Artificer is the only survivor introduced in Risk of Rain 2 to be added retroactively to the original Risk of Rain cast in Risk of Rain Returns. All other additions (Drifter and Pilot) are completely original additions.
  • Artificer's Prismatic Shard skin is a reference to the ENV Suit worn by the Artificer in Risk of Rain 2.
  • Artificer's base skin may also be a reference to her Mastery skin from Risk of Rain 2 as her color scheme and visor seem to be nigh identical.
  • On death, Artificer is frozen in a crystal that looks similar to the Time Crystal that Artificer is found in in Risk of Rain 2.
