"I don't know that I could take on a horde of that size, no matter how small they were."
– The Survivor

Lynx Totem is one of the game's bosses.

Description

The Lynx Totem is a tall stone structure engraved with various markings and covered in foliage. It is the subject of worship of the Lynx Tribe and the centerpiece of their religion.

The towering structure is animated with the help of a Lynx Tribe shaman, who rests atop it. The Lynx Totem is capable of locomotion using two stubby legs.

Behaviour

Lynx Totem is a summoner boss and the only boss that can jump. It deals no contact damage, instead attacking in two different ways:

Summoning four random Lynx Tribe members, two on both of its sides. If the Lynx Totem is elite, the summoned enemies will inherit its elite type.

A ground pound move that deals damage at ground level and summons two blocks on both of its sides.

Field Notes:

Travelling through the fungal caverns, I kept seeing out of place rubble that trailed to nowhere. With no buildings in sight, I was shocked to see a brick wall in the distance. Little cat-like creatures with masks and weaponry danced around the structure, and I could hear them laugh with one another. They appeared to be practicing some kind of worship, though the structure looked unlike anything I've seen on this planet. More of them crawled out from the dirt nearby, but strangely I haven't seen any evidence of them resting or hiding in the soil prior to that. Luckily they were distracted - I don't know that I could take on a horde of that size, no matter how small they were.

Version History

Patch 1.0.3
  • Corrected the Lynx Totem's killscreen icon.

Trivia

  • The Lynx Totem has carvings at its base that vaguely resemble a face.
  • The Lynx Totem and Lynx Tribe are referenced to be followers of N'Kuhana.
    • N'Kuhana is a figure that was introduced in Risk of Rain 2's environment logs and logbook entries. Any mention of N'Kuhana was absent from the original Risk of Rain that was released in 2013.
