"The only explanation I have for my surviving this legendary encounter is his many years drifting in space and having been fettered in this unforgiving, frozen wasteland."
– The Survivor

Ifrit is one of the game's bosses.

Description

Ifrit is a massive tetrapod creature that has a slender anatomy. It is covered in dark orange rough scales with lighter orange scales lining its abdomen. It has two black horns curved downward, with one of them being chipped at its end.

It possesses three digits on each limb ending in sharp claws, with broken chains worn on its forelimb and back limb. It has a long, thin tail, and along it and Ifrit's spine, a constant flaming trail.

Ifrit's head shape is vaguely reptilian, with sharp teeth lined across its gum-less mouth. The inside of its maw is lit with a fiery glow, as are its eyes.

Behaviour

Ifrit is a mid-game boss with higher than average stats, that can influence the environment to immobilize players.

Ifrit can trap survivors by spawning two tall black towers from two directions, preventing them from going farther forward or back. Ifrit's only damaging move is a massive downwards swipe with its forelimbs, which deals great damage in a large area in front of it, and additionally creates a wave of fire that travels along the ground.

Field Notes:

Could this be..? Tales I never believed recounted a horrible beast, fire incarnate. Scourge of another solar system, the Ifrit nearly wiped out an entire space colony before being chained and launched into the great black void. Supposedly the flaming jets that accompanied his roars could be seen for days as he drifted outwards.

Great towers, what must have been the containment structure used to trap this monster, prevent his escape even on this forsaken plane. The only explanation I have for my surviving this legendary encounter is his many years drifting in space and having been fettered in this unforgiving, frozen wasteland.

Trivia

  • Ifrit's namesake is derived from a type of demon in Islamic culture, who inhabit desolate spaces and hail from the underworld.
